When you start a new business you are always going to have some kind of competition no matter what field you are in unless you create something that is brand new and there is nothing likes it that only happens to a rare few! Competitors that you come across are likely to not take too kindly to you turning up and deciding to starting working in an area that they have been for some time!
The beauty industry is the same as any other in that sense but people who don’t take too kindly to what you are doing go to some lengths to try to put a spanner in your works! When this business was started is was so because my partner does semi permanent eyelash extensions and is a qualified nail technician, we started with only the two websites and as I had been working in website creation for some time I saw that the beauty industry was an area which was lacking in internet presence!
Before this I was working with my own business in the Limousine industry, I started a business called Limo Broker back in 2005 with a friend (which is now the leading limousine provider in the UK) and then went onto start my own limousine brokerage called Limotek (which I sold to start this business).
When Limo Broker was created it took over the limousine industry in a matter of months as there was a desperate need for a good well run business. Needless to say companies that had been working with limos for years did not like two young men coming into ‘their’ industry and making money off them, but that’s business!
Right now I am in the exact same situation which is really beginning to wear thin! I constantly get phone calls from potential ‘clients’ wanting to know every aspect of what we do here and who we do it with. I can usually pick these calls out as they are far too obvious. Usually they get the person within their company who is ‘best’ on the phone to call, these people whilst seemingly knowing nothing at all know all too much and its quite obvious they are not the ‘client’ they claim to be. Every time they are presented with an appointment for a time and date they wanted they suddenly need to ‘come back to me’, ‘check their diary’ or ‘they will call me back’!
Sometimes I will get someone who is interested in working with us as the site clearly says we are looking for new therapists and directly ask how to join the service that is how you do business properly!
This is more of a rant than anything as it totally wastes my time and gets on my nerves having to act out this scenario five or six times a day. We get 100’s of enquires per day and it’s very difficult when you have to deal with these kinds of people, it makes you not want to deal with anyone at all! We are providing you with the opportunity to take advantage of our website advertising and we rank 1st on Google for many different variations of keyword phrase on all our sites. We do not charge you a penny; you can charge the client what you want all we do is take a booking fee which is taken from the client to secure the booking!
That being said out booking system is finished and the finishing touches are being made to it now which will mean I do not have to deal with these people on the phone anymore, if they want to mess about they will have to pay to mess about which is fine by me!
Businesses evolve and competitors come into them and take over, this has happened a million times before and will happen to me at some point, I just hope I am too far ahead to be caught!
It has taken allot of hard work and ALLOT of money to get where I am now and I will not be stopping for anyone. We have a team of professionals pushing this business further and further into the limelight and we thoroughly deserve it as we work blood hard!
